Description

I'm still working on getting anatomy and shading right, so I wanted a simple pose just for practice.  I figured some sort of police investigator searching in the dark would work.

The pose/anatomy seems to have some issues, and I think it's due to his waist being non-existent.  The shading I'm pretty pleased with, to me it looks like it gives this guy some form and depth.  Then again I have a pretty clear vision in my head what I wanted and it's possible that is influencing how I interpret this.

Regardless I think I'm starting to make some progress in these areas despite the mistakes I continually make.  It's almost like I'm starting to see the light way far away at the end of the tunnel.

It looks like you already have some really useful comments, but I'm gonna add some things.

-The head : I actually really like his head. Even though it's not perfectly accurate, It gives him a nice cartoony vibe.

-General anatomy : not gonna be long on this one, the others have it covered pretty well. The left foot should be shifted a bit upwards because of the perspective. Generally, if you want to have good posture (and you're working from reference), it helps a lot having a loose draft, not concentrating on the details or the outline. Do your clean lines afterwards.

-Now, the main that disturbs me is the use of crayons. With a clean black outline like this, you could color your drawing pretty easily on photoshop, or with water colors. You could also use quality
felt-tip pens (like pro-markers). But crayons are very hard to use (in my opinion).

-The lines : your line-art is very clean, but it would help to have variation in the size of your line (to help express textures, shadows ...) . Get inspiration with comic artists.
My personal favorite is Franquin : img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20…

Look at other artists, try new stuff, and most of all, keep drawing !
